On 12 April 1961, a Sturmanskie watch accompanied Yuri Gagarin on the first manned flight into space. To commemorate that momentous event, we now present the limited edition Gagarin Heritage collection – a range of watches worthy of the great hero. The titanium case with black PVD coating continues to look impeccable for a long time even with intensive use of the watch. The minimalist dial is not filled with an abundance of scales and numerals, while it is perfectly readable even in the dark thanks to the luminous hands and numbers. The black leather strap with red stitching fits comfortably on the wrist. The watch is powered by the well-proven Poljot 2609 movement with a 38-hour power reserve. On the back of the case, there is an engraved image of Yuri Gagarin.

ABOUT STURMANSKIE

The Russians were the first to explore space on 12 April 1961 when cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, orbited the Earth in his Vostok-1 for one hour and forty-eight minutes. On his wrist, he wore a Sturmanskie watch, the first special timepiece in the world designed and manufactured to go in to space.
Withstanding the severe conditions of zero gravity, strong accelerations, unpredictable vibrations, and varying temperatures, Sturmanskie was the first brand to make astronomical feats in the watch world.
Its innovation was owed to the nautical and aviation chronometers originally developed for the Military Air Forces and Navy by the First Moscow Watch Factory.
The brand Sturmanskie was first launched in 1949. Back then, it was exclusively available for the Armed Forces and Navy of the USSR. It was only in 1983 that Sturmanskie watches were made available to the general public.
Sturmanskie designs continue to be inspired by and pay homage to new frontiers, adventure and exploration.
